Soradar MCP server: social data in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor

Soradar's MCP server is live. Connect it to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code or any other app that supports the Model Context Protocol, and the assistant you already use can look up TikTok, Instagram, RedNote, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and Lemon8 while you talk to it: live profiles, posts, comments and search results, with the numbers and links behind every answer.

What MCP is, and why it matters here

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data. An app that supports MCP can call a server's tools in the middle of a conversation, read what comes back, and keep going.

Without a data source, an assistant answers questions about creators and trends from training data that is months old, or from whatever a web search turns up. With Soradar connected, it fetches the current profile, the latest posts and the real comment threads, and it can tell you where each number came from.

What you can ask

Anything you would ask Soradar itself, inside the tool where you already work:

  • "Pull the last 30 posts from this creator's TikTok and give me median views and engagement rate."
  • "Search RedNote for sunscreen posts from the past month and summarise what people complain about in the comments."
  • "Compare these three brands' Instagram accounts: posting cadence, median likes, and their best post this quarter."
  • "Find YouTube channels reviewing budget espresso machines and list their subscriber counts."

And because the answer lands in your own assistant, you can keep going there: turn the numbers into a client brief in Claude, a spreadsheet in ChatGPT, or a dashboard in Cursor.

The tools

The server offers eight read-only tools:

  • get_user: a creator's or brand's profile: followers, bio, verification, post count.
  • get_user_posts: an account's recent posts with their engagement.
  • get_post: one post in full, from a link or an id.
  • get_comments: the comments on a post.
  • search_posts: posts matching a keyword or hashtag.
  • search_users: accounts matching a name or topic.
  • get_creator_stats: an account's statistics from its recent posts, with medians rather than averages, how much engagement rides on the single best post, and the sample size.
  • get_result_set_items: re-read results already fetched in this conversation, free of charge.

Seven platforms are covered, but not every lookup exists on every one: LinkedIn has no search, and Lemon8 has no comments or account post lists. The coverage table and each platform page (TikTok, Instagram, RedNote, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Lemon8) say exactly what each one returns.

Connect it in two minutes

You need a Soradar account on the Pro plan. Every app below signs in with your Soradar account, so there is no key to copy unless you want one.

Claude

  1. In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Soradar and paste the server URL. Leave the OAuth fields empty.
  3. Click Connect, sign in to Soradar and allow access. Claude can now use Soradar in any chat where the connector is on.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and turn on Developer mode (under Advanced).
  2. Create an app: name Soradar, paste the server URL, and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Sign in to Soradar and allow access when ChatGPT asks.

Claude Code

Add the server, then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Soradar to sign in.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http soradar https://mcp.soradar.app/mcp

Cursor

Paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Cursor then shows Needs login next to Soradar: click it, sign in and allow access.

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "soradar": { "url": "https://mcp.soradar.app/mcp" }
  }
}

VS Code

Paste this into .vscode/mcp.json, then start the server from the file or the MCP view. VS Code opens the Soradar sign-in.

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "soradar": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.soradar.app/mcp" }
  }
}

Any other MCP client

Point it at https://mcp.soradar.app/mcp (streamable HTTP). Clients that support MCP's OAuth sign-in find everything they need from the server itself. Clients that cannot sign in can send one of your Soradar API keys instead, as the header Authorization: Bearer <your key>.

The MCP page in your dashboard has the same instructions with one-click install buttons for Cursor and VS Code.

Access, privacy and credits

  • You approve every app. Signing in shows which app is asking and where access goes; nothing is connected until you click Allow. The app never sees your Soradar password.
  • Read-only. The tools only read public data: profiles, posts, comments and search results. Nothing can post, follow or message on your behalf, and there are no private accounts or messages.
  • Disconnect any time from Developer → MCP in the dashboard. The app's access ends at once.
  • Credits, as in Soradar. Lookups spend credits from your account, and every result says what it charged. A lookup that fails costs nothing, and re-reading results you already fetched is free. MCP usage appears as its own line in your credit activity.

Why an MCP server, and not just the API

Soradar already has a social media data API for developers. The MCP server is the same data for everyone else: marketers, researchers and agencies who live in an AI assistant rather than a code editor. No code, no key management, and the results arrive as text the model reads well, with the structured records alongside for apps that want them.

It also means Soradar works with other agents. If your team runs its own agent on an MCP-capable framework, it can use the same eight tools with an API key.
